Eric Schippers joined PENN Entertainment in August 2003.  In his role as Senior Vice President, Public Affairs & Government Relations, Mr. Schippers is responsible for PENN’s government relations, community affairs and corporate communications.  During his 20-year tenure at PENN he has helped the Company grow from a small regional operator into North America’s leading provider of integrated entertainment, sports content and casino gaming experiences.  In 2009, Mr. Schippers spearheaded PENN’s successful effort to authorize casinos in Ohio through a statewide Constitutional ballot initiative.  He also led the Company’s successful referendum efforts to expand its gaming operations in West Virginia, Massachusetts and Colorado, and through the passage of new legislation in numerous states.

In 2005, Mr. Schippers oversaw the launch of the PENN Entertainment Foundation, a 501 (c)3 non-profit organization, and has served as Chair of the Foundation since its inception.  In 2022, PENN contributed approximately $8 million and its team members volunteered more than 8,000 hours to directly support worthwhile charities and civic organizations in the communities in which PENN operates.  In addition, Mr. Schippers serves as Chair of PENN’s Environmental, Social and Governance (“ESG”) Committee, which oversees the Company’s corporate social responsibility initiatives, including the creation of new and sustainable programs that support our team members and communities, and help to protect our finite natural resources.

Mr. Schippers began his career at Burson-Marsteller, one of the world’s largest international public relations and communications firms, representing Fortune 500 clients in the areas of media relations, public affairs, and crisis communications. Prior to joining PENN, Mr. Schippers was President of a Washington, D.C. area Constitutional “Think Tank,” where he worked on critical public policy issues before the U.S. Supreme Court, Congress and state legislatures.

Mr. Schippers holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and international public relations from the George Washington University.
